Badri Cow Ghee is prepared by women self-help group of Chamoli district of Uttarakhand using the traditional bilona process, wherein Badri ghee is prepared by churning the curd of Badri cow milk using a wooden bilona/churner bidirectionally.
The butter obtained from this churning process is heated on mild flame to get Badri Cow Ghee.

Badri cow listed as the 40th Indegenous cattle breed under accession number IiNDIA_CATTLE_2400_BADRI_03040 by the ICAR-NBAGR, features small and strong body with a prominant hump. Pure Badri cow breed is found in higher reaches of Himalayan range of Uttarakhand.
